Reflecting...
...on September for a moment and I've realised how far we've come.
As always in interiors, September is a very busy month. Combine that with the 'back to school' mahem and add on a few special occasions to celebrate, and it's easy to be left a bit burnt out by the end. However I'm feeling totally enthused and inspired..
We made our debut at Decorex International, exhibiting to the UK and International trade. Our fabrics were so well received and the comments and enthusiasm for the brand were at times overwhelming. We've been inundated with enquiries and requests ever since so we are loving the momentum! We felt privileged to be able to exhibit alongside top international brands. It was also great to meet many of the other fabric designers and compare experiences, as well as watch some inspiring interviews in the seminar room with incredible interior designers such as Turner Pocock.
As a visitor to Decorex for the previous 3 years I hadn't quite imagined being able to be part of the show. A few months ago I was lucky enough to find the super talented Caroline, who has a never ending supply of initiative and positivity! Caroline joined me at the show and is now very much a fundamental part of the business for which I am thankful! I was also joined on the stand by an ex-colleague, Lucy, from my old M&S Buying days. Without such great help I would never have been able to exhibit so THANK YOU!! P.S - No we didn't spend our entire time drinking champagne like the photos might suggest! :-)
Alongside this I'm working on an exciting new design collaboration for Spring 2018 with a great furniture company - look out for our blog posts when it launches!
With the help of the lovely Matt Preistley we launched our short film which gives you a flavour of how a design begins life - available to watch here at the bottom of the page.
I've also been busy designing a new collection for Spring 2018 which I'm really excited about. In recent weeks I've been luck enough to explore some beautiful locations for my spring shoot which for me is the best bit of this job! Once again however my family are in despair as every day they come home to a kitchen covered in bits of fabric, sketches and photographs as I busily plan colours and photography. I tell them 'it's a creative process' :-))
